Less Stress, More Life: My Favorite Ways to Simplify Your Days

I’m currently reading a book called The Comfort Book by Matt Haig. It’s a short read filled with little pieces of advice about life — getting through hard times, dealing with depression, and appreciating what those struggles teach us. Haig also shares books, songs, and other things that have helped him along the way.

This gave me an idea for this week’s blog.

This week, I want to stress the importance of keeping things simple. I often get bogged down by the endless amount of options life offers, and it can impair my ability to actually be productive and move forward. So today, I want to share some of the ways I simplify my life through the power of lists (because let’s be honest — who doesn’t love a list?).

The goal of this blog is to get you thinking about the shortcuts you already have in your life, and how you can make the difficult things a little easier.

Let’s get started.

The Power of a Playlist

A playlist can help you regulate your emotions. Build one as you add new songs to your library and match it to the mood or setting you need. It will help the future you anchor yourself.

Here are my top 5 gym workout songs:

  • Wit Me – T.I. & Lil Wayne (Classic)

  • My Eyes – Travis Scott (The last 1:35 is pure octane)

  • Pressure – MGK (Sleeper)

  • Paradise – Big Sean (Extended version)

  • Big Dawgs – Hanumankind & Kaimi

If you’re like me, cooking can feel like a chore.

I was given a piece of advice once: keep your diet simple.
Here are 5 ways to simplify your diet in a healthy way:

  1. Buy frozen veggies.
They’re easy to cook, they don’t go bad as quickly as fresh ones, and they’re usually already chopped.

  2. Microwave when able.
Buy food you can throw in the microwave and have ready to go — rice, bagged veggies, ready-made bacon. It’s easy and often worth the time saved.

  3. Consistency > Variety.
Removing the stress of deciding what to eat can actually help you eat healthier. Choosing a few staple meals and rotating them can make life a lot easier.

  4. Make a list before you go to the grocery store.
Grocery shopping can be overwhelming. Planning meals beforehand keeps it simple and intentional.

  5. Don’t skip dessert — just take less of it.
Life is short and dessert is one of its joys. Don’t deprive yourself. Instead, opt for smaller portions or enjoy it less often. Healthy eating shouldn’t feel like punishment.

5 Healthy Habits to Improve Yourself Just a Bit

  1. Journal whatever comes to mind.
Stick to it for 30 days and read it afterward. Journaling creates mental space and gets you off your phone.

  2. Take the stairs.
When you can, choose the steps. There may come a day you can’t, so keep those muscles and joints moving while you can.

  3. Save a little extra — for you.
What you’re saving for matters less than the habit itself. Pay yourself first. A rainy-day fund is never a bad investment.

  4. Go for more walks.
Whether in the morning, during lunch, on a long call, or after dinner, get moving. Bring a buddy. Being sedentary is a silent killer.

  5. Go to bed early tonight — and again tomorrow.
If you’re like me and love staying up late, it catches up with you. It affects your quality of sleep and steals hours from the next day. Plus, the later it gets, the fewer useful things there are to do anyway. Take care of your body with a little extra rest.

Why Striving to Be Healthier Matters to You — Part 2

  1. Being healthy creates less stress for your loved ones.

  2. It can indirectly affect your earning potential.

  3. It strengthens both your body and mind — with positive effects on other areas of life.

  4. Leading a healthy life sets a good example for friends and family.

  5. Better physical and mental health increases self-confidence and improves the quality of your interactions with others.

This Week’s Conclusion.

Life doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Start with one habit, one playlist, or one shortcut that makes your day smoother. Keep it simple, build momentum, and watch how much lighter everything begins to feel.
